City of Burnaby Gets 100% EV-Ready Requirement

The City of Burnaby is the latest municipality in the Lower Mainland to pass a bylaw for EV readiness in future developments. The bylaw, which comes into effect on September 1st, will require all new residential parking spaces to have Level 2 (208/240v) energized outlets. This includes single-family dwelling units and multi-unit residential buildings. Exemptions apply to parking spaces for secondary suites and visitor parking, but the remaining stalls in new developments must be 100% EV-ready.

Other municipalities with 100% electric vehicle charging requirements in new buildings include the City of Vancouver and the City of Richmond.
