New Clean Energy Vehicle Rebate and HOV Access!

The Province announced on March 2, 2016 that the popular clean energy vehicle incentive will receive a boost of $6 million to ensure continued availability.  The program has proved wildly successful and will further the goal of the Zero Emission Vehicle Alliance – 50% of all new car sales will be zero-emission vehicles by 2050 – which B.C. signed onto in December 2015.

In addition to the funds for new vehicle purchases, the Province also announced funding of $890,000 for public and residential charging stations, and for fleet purchases of clean energy vehicles.

Of particular excitement for EV owners was the announcement that starting immediately, EV’s will be able to access the HOV lane.  For Metro Vancouver residents, access to the HOV lanes should drastically reduce commute times.
