Province doubles rebates for home and workplace charging, adds EV Ready program
Charging station rebates for homes and workplaces are offered through CleanBC’s Go Electric EV Charger Rebate and EV Ready programs. The rebates are administered by BC Hydro and FortisBC in their respective service areas. Find more information and application links through the CleanBC Go Electric Rebates Page.
British Columbians can receive double the amount per rebate to buy and install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at home and at work. That means rebates up to $700 are available for 50% of the cost to purchase and install charging stations in detached single-family homes, duplexes, and townhouses with their own garages or dedicated parking.
Workplaces and residents in condos or apartments can receive a rebate up to 50% of costs to a maximum of $4,000 per charger purchased and installed.
Additionally the Province is supporting the adoption of EVs at apartment and condo buildings through the EV Ready program. EV Ready provides rebates for the development of EV Ready plans and the installation of electrical modifications and upgrades needed to support widespread future access to EV charging for residents.
- EV Ready plan rebate: A rebate of up to $3,000 for the creation of an EV Ready plan – a professional strategy for a building to make at least one parking space per residential unit EV Ready.
- EV charger rebate: A rebate of up to $3,400 per charger to purchase and install Level 2 networked EV chargers to implement a building’s EV Ready plan, to a maximum of $14,000.
- EV Ready infrastructure rebate: A rebate of up to $600 per parking space to install the electrical infrastructure required to implement an EV Ready plan, to a maximum of $80,000.
“B.C. has the strongest uptake in electric vehicle adoption across Canada, and we’re positioning ourselves to become leaders in the EV industry,” said Bruce Ralston, Minister of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation. “We’re doubling the previous rebate amounts for home and workplace charging and adding new offers to support charging stations. We’re making it easier and more affordable for people to make the switch to electric vehicles and supporting new jobs for electricians and trades workers across B.C.”
