The 3 Electric Vehicle Incentive Lists in BC

With the recently activated Federal iZEV incentive, there are up to three vehicle eligibility lists to keep track of, depending on your situation. If you have heard of someone getting $16,000 worth of incentives, their vehicle would have appeared in each list below.

• Federal iZEV. — See the vehicle list here. A point of purchase incentive up to $5,000.
• Provincial CEVforBC. — See the vehicle list here. A point of purchase incentive up to $3,000.
• BC Scrap-It. —  See the vehicle list here. A rebate for scrapping a combustion vehicle after you buy an electric vehicle. $6,000 for new EVs and $3000 for used ones.

The iZEV and CEVforBC incentives are deducted from the purchase price of an eligible vehicle, similar to a down payment. They don’t reduce the vehicle price, so tax still applies to the full amount. The Scrap-It rebate comes in limited quantities each year, so remember that it’s not guaranteed to be available, and the scrap vehicle must qualify as well.
