West Coast Electric Fleets Workshop
In late November, Plug In BC hosted a West Coast Electric Fleets workshop at the River Rock Conference Centre in Richmond. The workshop Highlights Report is available here.
The workshop included success stories from EV fleet managers, news from commercial and specialty-use vehicle managers, lively table discussions, and electric vehicles on display:
- Fuso E-Canter
- VeloMetro Veemo
- Canadian Electric Vehicles Might-E Truck
- Volkswagen E-Golf
- Tesla Model 3 and Model S
- Toyota Prius Prime
- Kia Soul EV
- Nissan Leaf
- Hyundai Tuscon Fuel Cell EV
Presenters
The workshop brought a wide range of fleet managers and manufacturers together. On the demand side, we heard from Current Taxi, West Coast Sightseeing, Landsea Tours, City of Vancouver, YVR and Capital Regional District. From the supply side, we had presentations by Canadian Electric Vehicles, Mitsubishi Trucks, GreenPower Motor Company, Tesla, Ballard, Energy Solutions – Chargepoint, and HTec.
Discussions
The day wrapped up with high energy table discussions. In small groups, our diverse mix of participants tackled barriers and solutions to electric fleet uptake based on themes from our registration questionnaire. The themes for discussion were:
- vehicle availability,
- vehicle capability,
- vehicle cost,
- charging infrastructure,
- lack of information/education, and
- policies/plans.
